Fatigue after burn – Is it common? A preliminary survey

Physical function and daily activities are often affected after burn injury. Fatigue is a condition that rarely assessed. Being well-known sequela traumatic brain-injury or diseases of the nervous system, fatigue has also been described among population with negative impact on reduced capacity for work. The aim this study was to examine if, what extent, problem our victims. Twenty consecutive patients scheduled follow-up at Burn center’s outpatient clinic in Uppsala, were asked fill out Severity Scale (FSS). A healthy reference group without injury, gender age matched, same questionnaire. results show patient statistically significant higher score compared (p = 0.004). However, must be interpreted caution considering relatively small sample size. In future research it important investigate relationship between activities, depression, return work, quality life.
